CEW: Why is CEW membership important to you?
Heather Lux: I joined CEW last summer and I couldn’t be more grateful to this organization! Living in Maine I have limited access to progressive, industry-relevant resources. However, my CEW membership completely bridges this gap. From their website, to their publications, I feel that I’m always ahead of new trends in this rapidly changing industry. CEW has helped me to think more strategically about my business and become more informed about the beauty industry; which has been critical to me as I build my business strategy. I can’t say enough about how happy I have been with the people at CEW. They are engaged, helpful, and always ready to lend support to my emerging luxury independent skincare brand!
CEW: Do you have any tips for getting the most out of CEW membership?
HL: Take advantage of the resources and information they share with their members and ask for help. CEW offers mentorship through their MentorMatch program and they facilitated the opportunity for me to connect with the founder of a successful national independent brand through this program. The insight gained from this mentoring opportunity was invaluable. CEW’s network of executives is vast and they are all so generous with their time and knowledge. I would never have had access to this level of leadership within the industry without the support of CEW.
CEW: What is the most exciting aspect of your current role?
HL: Transitioning from a traditional corporate career of 20 years to the role of Founder/CEO of my own luxury skincare company in the fall of 2017 has been an exciting change on its own. It’s an amazing feeling to have the autonomy to build and run a company that is founded on values that truly matter to me. Every day I get to connect with my customers, develop initiatives and products that make a difference in their lives and live my dream of entrepreneurship.
CEW: How do you spend your time when you’re not working?
HL: My life in Maine is simple and beautiful. I love to explore this beautiful state and spend time at the ocean with my husband and our Bernese Mountain dogs!
